With nearly 50 years of graduate medical (GME) experience, Mr. Gentile is a highly respected leader in the GME industry, specializing in strategic planning, accreditation of GME programs, the financing of GME and physician workforce issues. As Germane Solutions’ senior advisor, he is dedicated to helping hospitals nationwide create and maintain GME programs that are both successful and sustainable.
Prior to joining Germane Solutions, Mr. Gentile retired as the vice president of academic affairs/chief academic officer for St. John Health System and also held an appointment as the adjunct assistant dean at Wayne State University School of Medicine. While in those roles, he was lauded for his strong command of the industry as a whole and as such, was awarded the AHME John C. Leonard Medical Education Award, the Southeastern Michigan Continuing Medical Education Excellence in Medical Education Award and the Thomas A. Angott Award from the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
A past president of the Association for Hospital Medical Education (AHME), Mr. Gentile was a founding member of the AHME Council of Transitional Year Program Directors and the Council for Continuing Medical Education. He is currently a reviewer for Academic Medicine, the American Osteopathic Association Journal, a member of the Board of Directors of the Southeastern Michigan Continuing Medical Education Consortium (SEMCME), a member of the Michigan State Medical Society Committee for Continuing Medical Education, and a member of the board of directors of the A.T. Still Osteopathic Postgraduate Training Institution (OPTI).
Mr. Gentile holds a bachelor of arts degree from Wayne State University and a master of science in administration degree from Central Michigan University.
