Our Story

In 2002, our CEO, Art Boll, left Deloitte Consulting to follow his passion for Graduate Medical Education (GME). He believed that GME was an unnoticed piece of the puzzle for improving healthcare in America, and that someone needed to bring its importance to light. He founded Germane Solutions to highlight GME’s importance to every hospital’s strategy, and to support those institutions that have committed to training the country’s future physicians.

In its early years, Germane Solutions struggled to convince the leadership of many teaching hospitals to see GME as an important strategic priority. Fortunately, some hospital leaders understood our vision and brought in Germane to help their programs better. Our insights helped improve their programs, and those hospitals’ successes provided validation for other hospitals to explore what Germane could offer.

Today, Germane Solutions works with teaching hospitals in forty states and offers its GME expertise on the entire lifecycle of the program ranging from initial planning to strategy and complete program redesign.

Despite our success, our focus remains grounded in Art’s vision of making GME a key part of improving healthcare. We approach every engagement and every client with an unwavering commitment to making their GME better because we want physicians graduating from those programs to provide the best care possible to patients.

We look forward to sharing our vision for GME with your organization.

Art Boll,
CEO

For over 40 years, Art’s passion has been growing and advancing Graduate Medical Education (GME) in America. After spending 28 years working with some of the largest academic institutions in the country, he left that position to focus full time on creating greater transparency and understanding of GME programs. His idea was to start Germane Solutions, a firm that combined cutting edge technology and years of hard-earned expertise in order to give clients more insight than they’d ever had before. In addition to being the Chief Executive Officer of Germane Solutions, Art also has extensive experience developing ambulatory care services, maximizing reimbursement opportunities, structuring of academic support agreements, and creating economic incentives for teaching, research and clinical programs. Art has conducted numerous training sessions and presentations for organizations such as the AHA, AAMC, GBA, AHME and various state health care organizations.
