Recent research illuminates the profound impact of increasing the presence of Black primary care physicians (PCPs) on the health outcomes of Black communities.

The Impact of Black Physicians on Health Outcomes:

A groundbreaking study recently published in JAMA Network Open reveals a compelling link between the presence of Black physicians and improved health outcomes for Black populations. Counties with a higher density of Black PCPs witnessed longer life expectancy and lower mortality rates among Black residents. Remarkably, even in counties with just one Black physician, positive impacts were evident.[1] These findings underscore the vital role of Black physicians in dismantling deeply entrenched racial health disparities.
